JHD Kingfisher Feather Studs

The sacred kingfisher (Kotare) is one of the most well-known birds in New Zealand. You may recognise the hunched deep greeny-blue silhouette sitting on a powerline or other elevated position awaiting their prey. They are called “sacred” because many believe them to have control over the waves and power over the ocean.

Kingfishers are found widely throughout New Zealand and utilize elevated observation posts to hunt from and banks or suitable trees to make nests in.

Some believe that the Kingfisher is the promise of abundance, of new warmth, prosperity and love that is about to unfold within your life.
